Melissa Amezcua Yépiz is professor in the Department of Politics at University of Guadalajara in México, where she also coordinates the research group on Participation and Citizenship in the Observatorio Político y Electoral. She is director of the Jalisco chapter of the Mexican Political Science Association (AMECIP) and member of the international Red de Politólogas. She works on the theory and history of populism in México.
