Gabriella Pruitt Santos

Gabriella Pruitt Santos leads the political science program at Chadron State College. She teaches courses on democratization, international law and global governance, and social movements and civic engagement, emphasizing Latin America and the United States. Gabriella’s research focuses on the intersections of censorship, human rights, and corruption in the digital technology age of political communication and democratic institutions. Her current research emphasizes the influence of new communication technologies on violence against journalists in Central America. She is also collaborating on a project that examines the uses of online communication platforms as tools in reconciliation processes between Indigenous and settler communities in the United States. Gabriella received her Ph.D. in global studies from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She informs her research from lived experiences and fieldwork in Central America and the United States.
